Sureya Davis was born in Staten Island New York and now resides in Southern California, where she is a senior at the Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD). While attending LCAD, Sureya developed a consistent subject matter, ranging from a variety of areas: portraits, still life’s, and figures included. Her focus within that subject matter deals with the simplicities of life, taking objects that aren’t normally formalized and treating them with as much care and  importance as the faces she portrays.

Prior to attending LCAD, Sureya explored art on her own, as well as in an non-traditional home-study known as the Art Instruction Schools. During this time, Sureya entered herself into multiple contests and magazines, landing her in many first and second place positions in her high school district, the Art Instruction Schools’ magazine and the magazine published by her junior college. Her years at LCAD, proved to be similar. While attending LCAD, Sureya continued to work hard, receiving multiple awards and scholarships, including the Festival of the Arts Scholarship, The Plotkin Memorial Foundation, Excellence in Art award, and the First Thursday Art Walk Scholarship. Upon graduation, Sureya plans to continue working hard, aiming for her MFA and gallery representation.
